Personal Injury

As of January 1, 2003 the residents of Saskatchewan have been given the choice between two systems of insurance to compensate them in the event of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. The information in this section is intended to assist you in making the choice between No Fault insurance or the Tort system.

Saskatchewan residents can choose the Tort system at any time free of cost, but coverage is not retroactive. If you wait until after you are injured in an accident, it is too late. If you want Tort coverage for an accident you must advise SGI of your election before the accident happens.

Residents of Alberta are covered under the Tort system for injuries sustained in their own province.
